Back by Pope-ular demand…

There’s wasn’t much feedback on yesterday’s ‘blog, none at all come to think of it. But that said, I didn’t write very much as it was my birthday (note, a few birthday wishes wouldn’t have gone amiss ‘blog readers). Abridged as though it might have been, yesterday’s ‘blog was the 41st consecutive day of ‘blogging and the 2013 WOWS ‘blog word count is now in excess of 20,000 – making it lengthier than a University dissertation and about as useful for later life.

Anyhow, it’s time to move onto today’s topic, which is about Pope Benedict XVI standing down as Pope – which surprised me as I thought he’d died back in 2005…
However, it turned out that the person who died in 2005 wasn’t The Pope, it was The Pope. By that I mean it wasn’t Pope Benedict XVI, it was Pope John Paul II – a Pope whose Mum and Dad were huge Beatles fans.
The Pope’s actual name before coming Pope was Joseph Ratzinger, I presume that his name will revert to this once he resigns as Pope. Upon his resignation, he will ceremoniously be presented with a muffin topped with some poached egg and a rasher of bacon – it’s deemed that this will be a very appropriate parting gift for the ex-Benedict…
There’s limited information available about The Pope, although I know he’s a feline lover – I presume that’s what they mean when people always refer to him as a Cat-a-holic… and something that’s always hung over Benedict XVI is his alleged involvement in the Hitler youth movement – which was controversial, but it shouldn’t really be for other people to Pontificate…
In case you were unaware, the Hilter youth movement was a 1930’s/1940’s German version of the boy scouts and they used focus on building shelters, tying knots and doing DIY. The individual brigades didn’t really play many sports or games though – as they only had one ball…
In any event, we shouldn’t really criticise Pope Benedict XVI for his involvement in the Hilter Youth as membership was compulsory for all German boys aged between 10 and 18 and to be fair to The Pope, he’s probably seen far worse things happening to teenage boys than them been forced into joining the Hitler Youth…
Aside from the above sex abuse scandal, The Pope and his church movement have also been involved in other controversies: this includes a differing of opinions with the Catholic church in the UK about their views on gay marriage… as well as a disagreement with the Catholic church in Thailand about their open use of Ladybishops…
